If your child is aged 8-20, they’re curious about and at risk for using alcohol.
Almost 1 in 4 Idaho high school students have had a drink in the last 30 days, and almost 15% say they’ve had alcohol (other than a few sips) before age 13.
Be The Parents is Idaho’s underage drinking prevention campaign that provides parents with the information, tools, and resources they need to help prevent their child from using alcohol.
BeTheParents.org encourages parents to mitigate risk factors for underage drinking like unsupervised time and do more of the things that make kids less likely to drink underage, like involvement in after-school and out-of-school activities. Parents can do a lot to protect their kids from the consequences of underage drinking, like unplanned and unwanted sexual activity, brain impairment, and even alcohol dependence. All parents want their kids to live happy, healthy lives and preventing kids from using alcohol supports that vision.
